About Pescadero Point Hump
The Pescadero Point Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from outer-exposed water off Half Moon Bay, holding structure across depths of 60 to 120 feet. The pinnacle draws Chinook Salmon through their March to August peak, while Rockfish concentrate over the rock from May to September and Lingcod push in during February to March and again August to October. Cabezon work the same broken bottom, peaking April to May and July to October, with Pacific Halibut present from April through September. Anglers target the salmon by trolling anchovies, spoons, flashers, and hoochies above the structure, or mooching whole anchovies and sardines along the drop. Over the rock itself, jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits takes Lingcod, bottom fishing squid and cut bait produces Cabezon, and bait fishing with squid and shrimp flies covers the rockfish.
