About Point San Pedro
Point San Pedro is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Half Moon Bay, California, where the bottom falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet along broken rock structure. Chinook Salmon are the primary draw, peaking March through August, with Lingcod running strong February through March and again August through October, and Pacific Halibut holding from April through September. Anglers work the deeper rock and drop-off edges by jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits for Lingcod, dropping to live sanddabs, live mackerel, or whole squid when the fish want bait. Chinook come to trolling with anchovies, spoons, flashers, and hoochies over the same contour, while mooching whole anchovies or sardines covers the water when the bite slows. Black Rockfish add a reliable jigging target across the rock from March into September.
