About Little Mile Rock
Little Mile Rock is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off San Francisco, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September, while Lingcod hold on the rock structure with peaks in February and March, again from August to October, and in December. Blue Rockfish and Black Rockfish stack over the same reef through the warmer months, with Blue Rockfish strongest from April to September and Black Rockfish from May to August. Anglers work the salmon by trolling whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers across the drop, then target Lingcod by jigging metal jigs and swimbaits close to the rock. Blue and Black Rockfish respond to shrimp fly rigs and metal jigs fished down along the same broken structure.
