Southeast Reef Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Half Moon Bay, rising through water that runs 40 to 80 feet deep. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through March and again from August through October, alongside aggregate rockfish that peak May through September and cabezon peaking April through May and July through October. Chinook salmon move through from March into August, and California halibut peak from April through August over the surrounding bottom. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and shrimp flies for lingcod, while bait fishing with squid, anchovies, and sardines takes rockfish holding tight to the pinnacle. Salmon respond to trolling anchovies, spoons, flashers, and hoochies through the water column, and halibut come on drifted live anchovies, smelt, and squid worked across the deeper edges of the structure.
