White Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Long Beach, California, where the bottom falls away from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds a mix of species through the year, with Barred Sand Bass peaking in March and again from June through August, Calico Bass running March through August, and California Sheephead strongest in May and June before a second window from July into September. California Halibut work the area from March through June, and Lingcod, Pacific Bonito, Leopard Shark, and both Black and Blue Rockfish round out the catch. Drift fishing over the rock with live anchovies, live sardines, or plastic swimbaits covers the Sand Bass and Halibut, while Calico Bass respond to swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits worked along the edges of the structure. For Sheephead holding tight to the rock, bait fishing with live shrimp, squid, or rock crab and a dropper loop presentation reaches them along the deeper breaks.
