Lucas Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Monterey, California, where the bottom falls away through roughly 260 to 660 feet. Lingcod hold along this structure with peaks from November to January, March to May, and again in September and October, while aggregate rockfish stack up from April through October and copper rockfish concentrate from July to September. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod, or drop squid strips, shrimp flies, and live anchovies for rockfish across the deeper ledges. Cabezon feed here from February to May and again in September, taking squid, shrimp, and cut bait fished on the bottom. Chinook salmon move through from March to July and respond to trolled anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers over the drop-off.
