About Midway Point
Midway Point is an outer, exposed rocky drop-off off Monterey, California, where the bottom falls through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from November through January, again from March through May, and once more from September into October, alongside aggregate Rockfish that run strong from April through October. Chinook Salmon move through the area from March into July, and Copper Rockfish concentrate here between July and September. Anglers working the rock target Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or drop live sanddabs and mackerel along the edge, while aggregate Rockfish respond to squid strips, shrimp flies, and live anchovies fished near the bottom. Chinook are taken by trolling anchovies, spoons, and hoochies behind flashers over the deeper water off the drop.
