About Cypress Point
Cypress Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Monterey, California, where the bottom falls steeply through roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds a strong Chinook Salmon run that peaks from March through July, alongside Lingcod that show best in November through January, March through May, and again September through October. Anglers work the drop with trolling for Chinook using anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers, while jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs takes Lingcod along the rock. Copper Rockfish concentrate here from July through September and respond to bait fishing with squid, shrimp flies, anchovies, and sardines, and Blue Rockfish and Cabezon add depth to the rockfish bite across the spring and fall. The rocky relief and deep water reward precise presentations kept close to the structure.
