Cypress Point Rock Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Monterey, California, rising through water that runs 80 to 180 feet deep. The structure holds a rockfish community that includes canary, vermilion, and widow rockfish alongside California scorpionfish, with lingcod peaking November through January, March through May, and September through October. Chinook salmon move through the area from March into July, with coho present in the wider system. Anglers work the rocky high spots for lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or drop the same broken terrain with live sanddabs, live mackerel, and squid on live bait, while drop shot rigs with plastic grubs, squid strips, or cut bait cover the same depth band. For Chinook, trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers across the exposed water is the primary approach, with mooching anchovies or sardines as a slower alternative.
