STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Point Alones sits off Monterey, California, marking an outer-exposed rocky drop-off that falls through 260 to 660 feet. California Halibut run here from March through September, working best on drift fishing with live anchovies, live sardines, shiner perch, or squid across the structure. Lingcod hold along the rock through the cold-season and spring windows of November to January, March to May, and September to October, taken by jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or on live sanddabs and live mackerel worked near the bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from March into July and respond to trolling with anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers, with mooching anchovies or sardines a secondary approach. The steep rock edge and deep water also hold California Sheephead, Kelp Bass, Calico Bass, California Scorpionfish, Leopard Shark, and Bat Ray.
