About Harding Rock
Harding Rock is an outer-exposed sand flat off San Francisco, sitting in 15 to 35 feet of water. The spot draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from April through September, alongside Coho Salmon, while California Halibut move across the flat with a peak from April to August. Lingcod and Cabezon hold on the harder edges here, with Lingcod peaking February through March, August through October, and again in December, and Cabezon showing strongest April to June, August to September, and November to December. Anglers troll whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers for Chinook, then switch to drifting live anchovies or shiner perch across the sand for halibut. Jigging metal jigs and swimbaits works the bottom structure for Lingcod, while bottom fishing squid and cut bait targets Cabezon.
