About Point Blunt
Point Blunt is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off San Francisco, where the bottom falls away through depths of 80 to 200 feet. Chinook Salmon run here from April through September, drawing anglers who troll whole anchovy, spoons, and flashers or work the water with mooching setups. California Halibut hold along the structure from April through August and respond to drift fishing with live anchovies and shiner perch. The rock bottom supports strong rockfish and Lingcod action, with Lingcod peaking February through March and again from August through October, best targeted by jigging metal jigs and swimbaits or dropping live sanddabs. Black and Blue Rockfish stack up over the same terrain through the spring and summer, taking shrimp fly rigs, metal jigs, and squid.
