About Boggy Bayou
Boggy Bayou is a protected inner bay near Destin, Florida, with a soft mud bottom and sheltered water running 5 to 15 feet deep. Sheepshead lead the winter calendar from January through March, and bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, or barnacle-encrusted mussels takes them close to the bottom. Spotted seatrout peak in March and April and again in October and November, when anglers drift the shallower edges with popping cork rigs, live shrimp, or paddle tail swimbaits. Red drum move through from September to November and respond to cut bait, live pinfish, or live finger mullet fished on the mud. Spanish mackerel run from March to October and fall to small spoons on the troll, while gray snapper and common snook round out the bayou's mix.
