About Boggy Point
Boggy Point is an outer, exposed sand-bottom drop-off off Destin in the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, with depths running from 260 to 660 feet. Sheepshead lead the winter action from January through March, while Spotted Seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, and Red Drum build to their best numbers from September through November. Spanish Mackerel hold a long season from March through October, and Gray Snapper and Common Snook round out the species list. Bottom fishing along the drop-off edge with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas targets Sheepshead, and the same approach with cut bait or live pinfish works for Red Drum holding near the sand. Spanish Mackerel respond to trolled small spoons and diving plugs, and anglers switch to metal jigs when fish break on the surface.
