About Cinco Bayou
Cinco Bayou is a protected inner bay near Destin, Florida, with a sand bottom and depths running 5 to 10 feet. Sheepshead peak from January through March, Spotted Seatrout move through in March–April and again in October–November, and Red Drum peak from September through November. Spanish Mackerel hold from March through October, and Gray Snapper and Common Snook round out the species list. Anglers target sheepshead by bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas, and they work seatrout with popping cork rigs and paddle tail swimbaits across the shallow sand. In fall, red drum respond to gold spoons and soft plastic jerkbaits cast to fish cruising the sheltered water.
