About DEP FLAP No Name Reef
DEP FLAP No Name Reef is an artificial reef in the federal Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, at 30.0750, -86.3500. Red Snapper peak from April through July and Greater Amberjack in April and May, while Gray Snapper hold on the structure from May through August and Gag Grouper peak from October through December alongside resident Red Grouper. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, and cut bait is the dominant approach for the snapper and grouper. Live bait bottom fishing with live hardtail (blue runner) targets amberjack holding tight to the reef, and vertical jigging with metal jigs and bucktail jigs offers a second option for Red Snapper. Above the structure, King Mackerel push through from April through October, and anglers slow troll live cigar minnows, live menhaden, and live blue runners around the reef's edges.
