About Fish Haven 18-01 Reef
Fish Haven 18-01 Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf State Waters off Destin, part of the Panhandle Region's network of placed structure. Gag Grouper hold tight to the reef and peak from October through December, when bottom fishing with live pinfish, live cigar minnows, or live grunts draws them out of the structure. Gray Snapper take over from May through August, responding to bottom fishing with live shrimp or cut squid and to chumming with cut sardines or glass minnows that pulls them up off the reef. Cobia peak from March through June and again in September and October, and anglers sight cast bucktail jigs or live eels to fish cruising near the surface. Sheepshead work the reef from January through March on fiddler crabs and sand fleas, while Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel range above the structure from spring through October, with trolling small spoons and slow trolling live cigar minnows covering the water column.
