About Bob Sikes Fishing Pier
Bob Sikes Fishing Pier is a public pier in Pensacola, Florida, set within the Panhandle region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the calendar from January through March. Spotted seatrout follow in March through May and again in October and November, while gray snapper peak from May through August. Spanish mackerel run from April through October and red drum surge in September and October. For sheepshead and gray snapper, bottom fishing tight to the pier structure with live shrimp or fiddler crabs is the dominant approach, and chumming with cut bait or live shrimp draws snapper closer to the pilings. Spanish mackerel respond to casting metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons from the pier, and red drum take soft plastic jerkbaits, gold spoons, or live shrimp under a popping cork.
