About Fort Panic Center Patch Reef

Fort Panic Center Patch Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf state waters off Destin, part of the Panhandle Region's network of deployed structure. Cobia move through from March to June and again in September and October, and anglers work them by sight casting bucktail jigs, live eels, or live pinfish when fish show near the surface. Gag Grouper peak from October to December and respond to bottom fishing with live pinfish, live cigar minnows, or live grunts dropped tight to the reef. King Mackerel hold here from April to October and take slow-trolled live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners, while Spanish Mackerel run from March to October and hit small spoons, Clark spoons, and diving plugs pulled on the troll. Through summer, Gray Snapper peak from May to August on live shrimp and cut squid fished on the bottom, and Sheepshead take over from January to March, picking fiddler crabs and sand fleas off the structure.
