About Anderson Bayou
Anderson Bayou is a protected inner bay arm on the Panama City shoreline, with a soft mud bottom and water running 5 to 10 feet deep. Red Drum peak from August through October and respond to inshore casting with soft plastic jerkbaits, paddle-tail jigheads, gold spoons, and topwater plugs worked across the mud flats. Sheepshead take over from January through March, when bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, or oysters puts baits in front of fish holding tight to the bottom. Gray Snapper peak from May through August and come to bottom rigs baited with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid. Spanish Mackerel move through from March through October and hit small spoons, metal jigs, and gotcha plugs cast into the open water, while Common Snook round out the bayou's species mix.
