About Norriego Point
Norriego Point sits at the mouth of Destin's waterfront on Florida's Panhandle, where an exposed rock-bottomed drop-off meets open Gulf water. Sheepshead lead the winter season from January through March, and anglers work the rock edges by bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp. Spotted seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, while red drum run strongest from September through November and respond to bottom fishing with cut bait, live pinfish, and live finger mullet along the ledge. Spanish mackerel hold here from March through October, and trolling small spoons and diving plugs along the outer face of the drop-off covers ground where schools move through. Gray snapper and common snook round out the species list around the rock structure.
