About Chevron Platform Reef

Chevron Platform Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida. The structure holds Red Snapper from April through August, Gray Snapper from May through August, and Greater Amberjack at their peak in April and May, with Red Grouper also present on the reef. King Mackerel work the area from April to October, and Gag Grouper peak from October through December. Bottom fishing with cut bait, squid, or live pinfish is the dominant approach for the snappers, live pinfish and squid also take Gag Grouper, and amberjack respond to live hardtails and live cigar minnows fished at the structure. Above the reef, slow trolling live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners targets King Mackerel.
