About Concrete ' Fish Havens' Reef
Concrete Fish Havens Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida, where placed concrete structure holds bottom fish and draws pelagic predators. Gag Grouper peak from October through December and hold tight to the concrete, so anglers work them with bottom fishing using live pinfish, live cigar minnows, frozen sardines, or squid. Red Snapper peak from April through August and respond to cut bait, squid, and live pinfish dropped to the structure, while Gray Snapper peak from May through August and take live shrimp, cut bait, and squid presented on the bottom. Red Grouper share the same reef habitat. Greater Amberjack peak in April and May and hit live hardtails and live cigar minnows fished over the reef, and King Mackerel run from April through October, when slow trolling live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners around the structure targets them in the upper water column.
