About LandShark Reef
LandShark Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida, where placed structure holds bottom fish and draws pelagics overhead. Red Snapper peak from April through August and Gray Snapper from May through August, while Greater Amberjack stack up in April and May and Gag Grouper turn on from October through December alongside Red Grouper. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, squid, or cut bait works the base of the structure for snapper and gag, and vertical jigging with metal jigs or bucktail jigs covers the same water column. Amberjack respond to live hardtails and live menhaden fished over the reef, as well as butterfly jigs and topwater poppers. King Mackerel run from April through October and take slow-trolled live cigar minnows, live blue runners, or live threadfin herring around the reef.
