About Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge Reef
Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida, where placed structure holds bottom fish and draws pelagic predators. Red Snapper peak from April through August, overlapping with Gray Snapper from May through August and King Mackerel from April through October. Greater Amberjack peak in April and May, Gag Grouper move onto the structure from October through December, and Red Grouper also hold on the reef. Bottom fishing with cut bait, squid, or live pinfish is the dominant approach for snapper and grouper tight to the structure, and vertical jigging with metal jigs or bucktail jigs also works over the reef. Above the bottom, anglers slow troll live cigar minnows or menhaden for King Mackerel and drop live hardtails for Greater Amberjack holding over the reef.
