About Santa Rosa Marine Resort II Reef
Santa Rosa Marine Resort II Reef is an artificial reef in the federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida, where placed structure holds both bottom fish and pelagics. Red Snapper peak from April through August, Gray Snapper from May through August, and Greater Amberjack in April and May, while Red Grouper also work the reef and Gag Grouper peak from October through December. King Mackerel move over the structure from April through October, and anglers target them by slow trolling live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners along the edges of the reef. Bottom fishing with cut bait, squid, or live pinfish puts baits in front of the snapper and grouper tight to the structure. Amberjack hold higher in the water column over the reef and respond to live hardtails and live cigar minnows, as well as to butterfly jigs and speed jigs worked vertically.
