About NRDA WM-LA-16 Reef
NRDA WM-LA-16 Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, where placed structure concentrates bottom fish and draws pelagics overhead. Red Snapper peak from April through July and Gray Snapper from May through August, while Greater Amberjack run strongest in April and May and Gag Grouper peak from October through December alongside resident Red Grouper. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, or cut bait works the reef for snapper and grouper, and vertical jigging with metal or butterfly jigs pulls amberjack and Red Snapper off the structure. King Mackerel hold above the reef from April through October and respond to slow trolling with live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners. For amberjack, live hardtail or live vermilion snapper dropped tight to the structure produces the heaviest strikes.
