About R/V MANTA Reef
R/V MANTA Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, where the structure draws reef fish and passing pelagics. Red Snapper peak from April through July and Greater Amberjack from April into May, while Gray Snapper hold strongest from May through August and Gag Grouper peak from October through December alongside resident Red Grouper. Bottom fishing with cigar minnows, squid, live pinfish, or cut bait works Red Snapper tight to the structure, and live hardtail (blue runner) or live vermilion snapper dropped near the reef targets Greater Amberjack. King Mackerel cruise the area from April through October and respond to slow trolling with live cigar minnows, live menhaden, or live blue runners around the reef's edges. Vertical jigging with butterfly jigs or metal jigs covers the water column when amberjack and snapper rise off the bottom.
