About S/V Cordonazo Reef
S/V Cordonazo Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, where a sunken vessel provides structure that holds both bottom and pelagic species. Greater amberjack and red snapper peak here from April into May, with red snapper holding through July, while gray snapper move in from May through August. King mackerel patrol the reef from April through October, and gag grouper peak from October through December alongside resident red grouper. Bottom fishing with live pinfish or cigar minnows works the wreck for snapper and grouper, and live hardtail dropped to the structure draws amberjack. Slow trolling live cigar minnows or live menhaden around the reef's edges targets king mackerel.
