About S/V DYLAN Reef
S/V DYLAN Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, where a sunken vessel creates hard structure on the open bottom. Red Snapper peak from April through July and Greater Amberjack from April into May, while King Mackerel hold over the site from April through October. Gray Snapper peak from May through August, Gag Grouper peak from October through December, and Red Grouper also hold on the structure. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, or cut bait works the wreck for snapper and grouper, and Greater Amberjack respond to live hardtail dropped tight to the structure or to butterfly jigs worked vertically. Above the reef, slow trolling live cigar minnows or live menhaden targets King Mackerel cruising the upper water column.
