About Sarah Ann Bayou
Sarah Ann Bayou is a protected inner bay off Destin, Florida, with a soft mud bottom running 5 to 15 feet deep. Sheepshead peak from January through March, spotted seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, red drum peak September through November, and Spanish mackerel run March through October, while gray snapper and common snook round out the lineup. Bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas targets sheepshead on the mud bottom, and seatrout take live shrimp under popping cork rigs or paddle tail swimbaits worked through the shallower water. In fall, red drum hit cut bait, live pinfish, and live finger mullet fished on the bottom. Spanish mackerel strike small spoons and gotcha plugs cast to breaking fish.
