About Seagrove Reef
Seagrove Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf State Waters off Destin, part of the Panhandle Region's network of placed structure. Gag Grouper hold on the reef with a peak from October through December, while Sheepshead take over the colder months from January through March. Gray Snapper peak from May through August, and Cobia move through in two windows, March through June and again in September and October. Bottom fishing with live pinfish or cut bait works the structure for grouper and snapper, and fiddler crabs and sand fleas dropped tight to the reef target Sheepshead. Above the reef, Spanish Mackerel peak from March through October and King Mackerel from April through October, and anglers target the kings by slow trolling live cigar minnows or live menhaden.
