About Seahorse Reef
Seahorse Reef is an artificial reef off Destin, Florida, within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Its structure draws Sheepshead from January through March and Spotted Seatrout in the spring and fall windows of March–April and October–November. Gray Snapper peak from May through August, and Spanish Mackerel run from March through October, with Red Drum peaking in September through November. Bottom fishing tight to the reef with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or barnacle-encrusted mussels targets Sheepshead, while live pinfish, live shrimp, or cut squid dropped to the same structure work for Gray Snapper. Above the reef, anglers troll small spoons and diving plugs or cast metal jigs and gotcha plugs to breaking Spanish Mackerel.
