About SR-27 Patch Reef 8
SR-27 Patch Reef 8 is an artificial reef in Florida Gulf state waters off Destin, part of the Panhandle Region's network of deployed structure. The reef draws Sheepshead from January through March and Gag Grouper from October through December, while Gray Snapper peak from May through August. Cobia move through in spring and early fall, running March through June and again in September and October. King Mackerel hold from April through October and Spanish Mackerel from March through October. Bottom fishing with live pinfish or live cigar minnows tight to the structure targets grouper and snapper, while slow trolling live menhaden or trolling small spoons along the reef edges works the passing mackerel.
