About The Narrows
The Narrows is an exposed sand-bottom corridor off Destin, Florida, within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, running from 260 to 660 feet deep. Sheepshead peak from January through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, and Red Drum peak from September through November. Spanish Mackerel hold a long season from March through October, with Gray Snapper and Common Snook rounding out the target list. Trolling small spoons, clark spoons, and diving plugs along the corridor targets the mackerel, while casting metal jigs and gotcha plugs works when fish break the surface. For Sheepshead and Red Drum, bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, live shrimp, or cut bait suits the open sand bottom.
