About Topsail Bluff Center Patch Reef
Topsail Bluff Center Patch Reef is an artificial reef in the Gulf waters off Destin, Florida, within the Panhandle region's state waters. Sheepshead hold on the structure from January through March, while Gray Snapper peak from May through August and Gag Grouper move in from October through December. Bottom fishing over the reef with fiddler crabs or sand fleas targets Sheepshead, and live pinfish or live cigar minnows work for both Gray Snapper and Gag Grouper. Above the reef, King Mackerel run from April through October and respond to slow trolling with live cigar minnows or live menhaden, and Spanish Mackerel peak from March through October and are taken by trolling small spoons and diving plugs. Cobia pass through from March to June and again in September and October, and sight casting with bucktail jigs or live eels targets fish cruising near the structure.
