About Upper Pritchard Long Point

Upper Pritchard Long Point is an outer, exposed sand-bottom drop-off off Destin, Florida, in the Panhandle region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where depths fall from 40 to 120 feet. Sheepshead peak from January through March, Spotted Seatrout show in March–April and again in October–November, and Red Drum run strongest from September through November, with Gray Snapper and Common Snook also on the target list. Spanish Mackerel hold here from March through October, and anglers troll small spoons, clark spoons, and diving plugs along the edge or cast metal jigs and gotcha plugs to breaking fish. On the bottom, sheepshead anglers work fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp tight to the drop, while red drum take cut bait, live pinfish, and live finger mullet fished along the sand. The 40-to-120-foot gradient lets anglers move between shallow and deep water on a single drift, matching depth to the species and season.
