About White Point

White Point is an outer, exposed rock drop-off off Destin, Florida, in the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, with bottom that falls away from 260 to 660 feet. Sheepshead lead the winter fishery and peak from January through March, while Spanish Mackerel hold a long season that peaks from March through October. Spotted Seatrout peak in March–April and again in October–November, Red Drum peak from September through November, and Gray Snapper and Common Snook round out the species list. Over the rock ledges, bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or barnacle-encrusted mussels targets Sheepshead, and jigging with jig heads tipped with shrimp works the same structure. Spanish Mackerel respond to trolling with small spoons, clark spoons, and diving plugs, and casting metal jigs or gotcha plugs to breaking fish also takes them.
