About BioRock Reef Project
The BioRock Reef Project is an artificial reef off Fort Lauderdale, Florida, within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Its structure holds a mix of reef fish and roaming predators, with Mutton Snapper peaking from March through June, Yellowtail Snapper from April through July, and Gray Snapper in June and July. Common Snook move through from May to July, Crevalle Jack patrol the area, and King Mackerel show strongest from January through March. Yellowtail respond to chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows, cut ballyhoo, or squid strips, while Mutton and Gray Snapper favor bottom fishing over the reef with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid. For King Mackerel, slow trolling live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, or blue runners along the edges of the structure covers the water where these fish hunt.
