About Bud Bar Reef
Bud Bar Reef is an artificial reef off the Fort Lauderdale coast in Florida's Southeast Atlantic state waters, where placed structure draws both reef-dwelling and roaming predatory fish. King Mackerel lead the calendar with a peak from January through March, followed by Mutton Snapper from March through June and Yellowtail Snapper from April through July. Common Snook peak from May through July and Gray Snapper in June and July, while Crevalle Jack also patrol the reef. Bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid takes Mutton and Gray Snapper tight to the structure, and chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows or cut ballyhoo pulls Yellowtail Snapper up off the reef. For King Mackerel, slow trolling live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, or blue runners along the reef edges covers the water where the fish hunt.
