About Burnham Point Hump
Burnham Point Hump is a rock pinnacle off Fort Lauderdale in Florida's southeast Atlantic waters, rising from an exposed outer stretch of bottom in 50 to 85 feet. Mutton Snapper peak here from March through June, Yellowtail Snapper from April through July, and Gray Snapper in June and July, while Common Snook peak from May through July and King Mackerel from January through March. Bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid works the hard rock for mutton and gray snapper, and chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows or cut ballyhoo draws yellowtail up off the structure. King Mackerel anglers slow troll live goggle eyes, live threadfin herring, or live blue runners around the pinnacle during the winter peak. Crevalle Jack also roam the hump alongside the snapper and mackerel.
