About C-Note Reef

C-Note Reef is an artificial reef in the Atlantic off Fort Lauderdale, Florida, within the state waters of the Southeast Region. King Mackerel lead the calendar from January through March, followed by Mutton Snapper from March to June and Yellowtail Snapper from April through July. Common Snook peak from May to July, Gray Snapper hold strongest in June and July, and Crevalle Jack round out the reef's mix of species. Anglers set up a chum slick and drift glass minnows, cut ballyhoo, or squid strips back toward the structure for yellowtail, while bottom fishing with live ballyhoo, live pilchards, or cut bait targets mutton and gray snapper tight to the reef. Over the winter run, slow trolling live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, or blue runners around the reef's edges draws strikes from cruising kingfish.
