About COAST GUARD STATION BREAKWATER LIGHT PE
The Coast Guard Station Breakwater Light is an exposed rock pinnacle off Fort Lauderdale, rising from 15 to 35 feet of water in Florida's Southeast Atlantic state waters. Common Snook peak here from May through July, and anglers target them by drifting live shrimp, live pilchards, live mullet or live pinfish past the rock, with bucktail jigs, swimbaits and topwater plugs working as alternatives. The snapper run builds through spring and summer: Mutton Snapper peak March through June, Yellowtail Snapper April through July, and Gray Snapper June through July. Bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait or squid tight to the pinnacle draws Gray and Mutton Snapper, while chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows or cut ballyhoo pulls Yellowtail up off the structure. King Mackerel peak January through March and respond to slow trolling live goggle eyes, live threadfin herring or live blue runners along the outer edge, and Crevalle Jack also prowl the rock.
