About Hillsboro River
The Hillsboro River is a protected tidal corridor near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where a mud bottom runs 10 to 20 feet deep between sheltered banks. Common Snook headline the spot from May through July, and Gray Snapper peak in June and July alongside Yellowtail Snapper, which run strongest from April through July. Mutton Snapper build from March through June, King Mackerel peak from January through March, and Crevalle Jack round out the mix. Live bait drifting with live shrimp, live pilchards, or live mullet works the corridor's channel for snook, while bottom fishing with live shrimp or cut bait on the mud floor targets Gray Snapper. Bucktail jigs and soft plastic jigs cover the 10- to 20-foot water when snook and snapper hold deeper along the corridor.
