About Lake Placid
Lake Placid is a protected inner bay in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a mixed bottom and depths of 5 to 10 feet within the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters. Common Snook peak from May through July, alongside Gray Snapper in June and July, while Mutton Snapper run strongest from March through June and Yellowtail Snapper from April through July. King Mackerel peak from January through March, and Crevalle Jack round out the species mix. For snook, live bait drifting with live shrimp, live pilchards, live mullet, or live pinfish is the dominant approach, with swimbaits, jerkbaits, and topwater plugs cast toward the edges as a supporting method. Gray Snapper respond to bottom fishing over the mixed bottom with live shrimp, cut bait, or squid, and shrimp-tipped jigs work the 5 to 10 foot depths effectively.
