About Lake Placid Hump
Lake Placid Hump is a rock pinnacle off Fort Lauderdale in Florida's southeast Atlantic state waters, rising from exposed outer ground in 80 to 120 feet of water. Mutton Snapper peak here from March through June, Yellowtail Snapper from April through July, and Gray Snapper in June and July. Common Snook peak from May through July, and King Mackerel run strongest from January through March. The hard rock relief holds snapper close to the bottom, where anglers target muttons and grays by bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid, and pull yellowtail up off the structure by chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows or cut ballyhoo. Over the top of the hump, anglers slow troll live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, or blue runners for kingfish, while Crevalle Jack patrol the pinnacle alongside them.
