About Red Rock Reef
Red Rock Reef is an artificial reef off Fort Lauderdale in the Florida Atlantic State Waters of the Southeast Region, holding a mix of reef, bottom, and pelagic species around its structure. King Mackerel lead the calendar from January through March, and slow trolling live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, or blue runners near the reef draws strikes. Mutton Snapper peak from March through June and Yellowtail Snapper from April through July. Anglers target muttons by bottom fishing live ballyhoo or cut bait, while yellowtail respond to chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows, cut ballyhoo, or squid strips. Common Snook peak from May through July and Gray Snapper in June and July, with live pilchards and live shrimp producing for both, while Crevalle Jack round out the action over the reef.
