About Rodeo Reef
Rodeo Reef is an artificial reef off Fort Lauderdale in the Southeast Region of Florida's Atlantic state waters, where placed structure concentrates bait and reef fish. Yellowtail Snapper peak from April through July, Mutton Snapper from March through June, and Gray Snapper in June and July. Common Snook show best from May through July, while King Mackerel peak from January through March, and Crevalle Jack round out the mix. Anglers target the snappers with bottom fishing over the structure, using live shrimp, cut bait, live pilchards, and squid. For yellowtail, chumming and drift fishing with glass minnows, cut ballyhoo, and squid strips works, and in winter, slow trolling with live goggle eyes, threadfin herring, and blue runners covers the kingfish.
