About Needmore Point
Needmore Point is an outer, exposed sand drop-off off Fort Myers in the Charlotte Harbor region of Florida's Gulf state waters, with the bottom falling from 15 to 45 feet. Sheepshead hold along the edge from November through March, and bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas works the slope through that window. Spotted seatrout peak in March and April and common snook follow from April through June. Gray snapper then take over from May through August, hitting live pilchards and cut bait fished near the bottom. Red drum move onto the drop-off from August through October and take live pinfish and cut mullet fished along the edge, while Spanish mackerel round out the species mix over the open water.
