About Sea Mist II Reef
Sea Mist II Reef is an artificial reef in Federal Atlantic Waters off Jupiter, Florida, where the structure draws both bottom species and pelagic predators. King Mackerel move through in two peak runs, March through April and October through November, and slow trolling live goggle eyes, blue runners, or threadfin herring over the reef is the dominant approach. Wahoo peak in April and again from September through December, and anglers target them with high-speed trolling using bullet-head trolling lures, skirted lures, and diving plugs along the reef's edges. Dorado fill the March-through-June window, and trolling rigged or skirted ballyhoo pulls them in, while Mutton Snapper peak April through June and respond to bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut ballyhoo, or squid. Black Grouper and Greater Amberjack also hold on the structure, which rounds out the reef's mix of bottom and pelagic species.
